What birdlife is found in Honduras?


Honduras is home to 58 families with 725 bird species. Areas such as Lancetilla Botanical Gardens, Lake Yojoa and Pico Bonito National Park are all home to over 250 species. Various species such as macaws, toucans, quetzals, motmots, parrots, tanagers, orioles, herons, ibis, terns and kingfishers are seen regularly. The only endemic bird to Honduras is the Honduran Emerald, which is found in the dry forest of the Olanchito region.
