Well since it is intro time for everyone, I guess it is my turn. My name is Linda, I presently live in Vancouver BC, I work at the local airport. My partner is Jay, he travels for his work in the high tech world for about 95% of the time and is a US citizen, but due to the travel for work, he is a man with out a home. I have a great dislike of the cold and all ways talked of wanting to move to a tropical climite, so Jay came to Vancouver one day a couple of years ago and announced that he had purchased just a little more than a acre of land on Roaton for us. We started in May on the work of having our house built. May was the first time I was in Roaton and fell in love with it immediatly, I was back again in January as it was time to pick out the paint, tiles etc for the house and we spent another two weeks there in the rain, but it definitly did not dampen my love for the place. So basicly we are a couple who are building our retirement home on the island and hope to be living there most of the year starting in about 10 months. I also have a daughter who is in law school here in Canada, and is going to be specializing in International Law, and is planning as well to move and work part time out of the island as she wants to work in the field of childrens rights in Central America, so she too is very excited about the island and is planning to spend a lot of time there as well. I have subscribed to the Roaton list to find a little more about the island and the people who call it thier home as we hope to be able to do the same some day soon. Linda | |
