    Purpose Statement:

Our purpose is to provide both basic healthcare and education from birth to
adolescence for the women and children of a remote island off the coast of
the Honduran mainland. By providing these two basic services we hope to give
the next generation a greater advantage than the last. By empowering mothers
and their children we are optimistic that the cycles of poor health,
nutrition and education can be broken.

    Project activities:

1.. A breakfast program for children up to age fifteen.
2.. Provide funding for a bilingual education. Including food,
    transportation, uniform and books.
3.. Provide prenatal, antepartum, post-partum care.
4.. Immunizations and well baby care.
5.. Family planning & well woman care.
6.. Education and mentoring program including pregnancy prevention and
community empowerment and adult literacy classes.
    Objectives

1.. To create a safe facility for women and children to learn how to
    create and maintain healthy lifestyles.
2.. To educate women on women's health issues, particularly STD
transmission, early detection of breast cancer and pregnancy prevention.
To work in conjuction with the services available by the government to
allow women options while in the childbearing cycle.

3.. To provide an accessible nutritional based breakfast program.
4.. To train local people in all the areas mentioned above so that it may
    become a self-sufficient.
    Target Audience:

    Women and children.

    Outcomes and impacts:

    1.. Lower infant mortality rate.
    2.. Lower teen pregnancy rate
    3.. Lower illiteracy rate.
4.. Lower both middle school and highschool drop out rate.
    5.. Lower crime rate.
    6.. Lower poverty rate.
Personnel information/ Resources avaliable and needed:

Personnel at this time consist of Bernadette Ebanks and Sarahjane Taylor. To
implement the medical aspect of our program we will obtain services of a
nurse practitioner. We will be running much of the medical practice with
volunteers from the USA. Bernadette Ebanks is currently a midwifery student
at Oregon school of Midwifery and will be completing here training in
    Roatan.

Funding is provided on a private donation basis as well as local
fundraising. We have implemented the school sponsorship program but do not
have the funding at this time to implement the remainder of our project. We
are in desperate need for funding!

If you are interested in sponsoring a child the cost is 700.00 usd per
year. This includes all mentioned above.

    Thank you ,

    Bernadette Ebanks
