Walter, good evening. Our caretaker and his family are raising three pups
    we
were given by a friend on the island, and we buy our food eitrher at
    Eldon's
supermarket in Franch Harbour or from our vet who comes over to his clinis
every wednesday and will bribg over 50 lb bags if you request them. We
    feed
    our mutts 'Pedigree'
and they've done very well on it and ground meat and filet fish scraps.
    The
American vet on the island who neutered and spayed our dogs call them "The
Hounds of Ruby Lee Ridge" two males and a female...all from the same
    litter,
and obviously all with different fathers. You must be very careful with
    dogs
(and cats) being poisoned, however...it is done often...someone comes
    aroyund
scattering strychnine-laced segments of hot dogs...many beloved pets are
    killed each year this way.
Good luck, but if you don't already have a dog don't worry...if you want a
pet...or two or three, there are no limit it seems to the number of
    starving
dogs and cats on the island...hence the poisoning program that is done on
    a
    regular basis.

    All the best...dke
