Dear Group,
Several people have asked what I've been up to lately, since I haven't been posting much. I've been hard at work on a new site, which I am doing in conjunction with my mainland partner, Dean Milverton. Some of you know Dean, who has worked in Honduras for the last 2 years for a major tour operator and before that in Guatemala.
Based on market research, we found that many more people search for Honduras related search terms than Bay Islands related terms, even though around half of them end up spending at least part of the time in the Bay Islands. So we created a site that will eventually cover all of Honduras. You can see the site at: http://www.travel-to-honduras.com
It is a completely dynamic and full-featured site, including a FAQ, a photo gallery with over 100 photos, free classified ads, events calendar, discussion lists, newsletters, and more. It was designed for quick download speed. It has been officially live for just a few days, but we already have plans to make it even better.
For the short time it has been up, we are very pleased with the traffic. I have several customers on this list from Honduras, the US and Europe and they are aware of my search engine optimization skills. They won't find it surprising, but www.travel-to-honduras.com is currently ranked 1st for several commonly searched terms with over 100,000 results returned on google.com, including "Honduras diving" and "Honduras vacation rentals". I hope that doesn’t sound like bragging, but I do want to share my excitement with my friends.
If any botanists, either amateur or pro, would like to offer to help identify the plants in the photo gallery, please let me know. That section still needs some captions. I also am unsure of the name of the blue fish in the Undersea Life section there.
I also want to thank those of you who helped me test the site in AOL! I was able to test it in 9 other configurations, but at this point, AOL is essential for compatibility.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the site.
