    Most places seem to prefer the AMEX brand travelers checks. Some
    places accept others; I've had Visa travelers checks a few times and
    most places accepted them but I did get them declined a few times.
    One other thing - get them in SMALL denominations - mostly 10s & 20s,
    maybe a few 50s. Many of the smaller shops have difficulty changing
    bigger denominations.
