Hey Roger! For the best social integration, I would suggest West End. That is where we stay, and couldn't be happier about it. First of all, my favorite dive shop is in West End; Sueno del Mar. The staff is great and the prices can't be beat. Most importantly they are very trust-worthy and their equiptment is in excellent shape. Secondly, you get a great mix of people. In West End, it is typically the wealthy vacationers (not that that is bad). In West End you meet people from Doctor and Lawyers to backpackers to retirees to vacationers. Everyone seems to have a great story. I found them very inspiring. West Bay is just a short water taxi or taxi or a longer walk away. There is much more to do in west end as well.
