There are plenty of locals that can 'get the job done' in varying degrees of skill, mostly mediocre. I have seen a lot of poor quality trade work, as well. The best tradesmen on the island are very busy, and don't need to advertise. The commercial work, as far as electric goes, is not too different from residential, simply because the commercial work is of no substantial size. Most commercial work is in buildings 2-6,000 sq. feet. Some bigger, but none of any complex, or substantial electrical requirement. 'Strip mall' type of projects. The residential work is virtually the same as the states, in terms of its complexity and materials. The bigger question is of $$$$. I'm guessing the range of pay is about $4-$7/hr. Owners probably bill out $10-$20/hr; depending on the customer. (someone correct me if I'm wrong) A single guy can live OK on that kind of money. A family would live very modestly. 'Straight-laced' Americans seem to do well on the island if they remain focused. Regards, John B. FREE Cell Phones with up to $400 Cash Back!
