    Juliet, Good Evening:

Many years ago Captain Carl Olson McNab had a pet mouse deer in his front
    yard
in French Harbour as a pet for his children. I am sure he would be happy
    to tell
you of their pet deer, and maybe who you might contact about finding those
    who
have them as pets today. Like the alligators, manatees, sea turtles, and
    other
wild game on the island, there will soon be no place for the very few wild
    deer
that are left to live. It might well be a good idea to see if anyone with
    lots
of space wanted to see if they could breed these little gentle guys before
    they
too are no more. If I lived full time on the island I certainly would
    fence in
several acres of our grassland and forest for a small herd. Maybe someday
    that
will be possible...but can the deer wait for me to win the lottery?

    All the best...dke
