I'm coming to Roatan May 9-18 and staying at CocoView. After doing alot of research on Malaria in Central America, and talking with my doctor, we decided for me to take Malaria meds. She has me on Larium pills(1 per week at 250 mg) with the dosage starting 1 week prior to me coming there. Then I'll take one during the time I'm there, and the other 4 once a week after I get back home. She basically said the chances of me getting Malaria on Roatan are not very good. The mainland is another story though! But it's better to be safe than sorry. I'm just hoping the side affects won't be bad and interfere with my diving. Has anybody ever taken Larium before?
