Hi John, I would suggest that you stay in West End. You would be close to all the bars and restaurants, and it is very easy to meet people while sharing diving stories. We stayed at Grapetree, and although it is at the end of the road, it is beautiful, and Mariela who is the manager is so Increadably helpful and nice. We dove with Coconutree Divers and my friend took her course there with Emma who was an awesome instructor. The dive masters were great and tried to make sure we didn;t repeat the same dive sites so we were able to see a lot of the area. I would be more then happy to tell you more if you want to contact me off list! sno "John " wrote: Though I haven't received many answers to my previous post, from what I've been reading I get the impression I would probably be happiest in the West Bay or West End. I would appreciate any input and any advice as to accomidations. I'm looking at Foster's, which has accommodation in both areas, but an open to any suggestions. As I stated before, I'm a single man, traveling alone, and I plan to take an open water certification course. I hope this will be the first of many visit, if the impression I'm getting of the island is at all accurate. I've spent a fair amount of time in a few other counties, and I speak Spanish (badly). I simply mention this to indicate that I have respect for any local culture, expatriate and indigenous, and am not solely an idiot tourist, though that will pretty much be my role on this trip. Thanks for any advice.
