But we'll be back just > as soon as we can. > > Thanks again! > > Nelson i hope that you have not cancelled your trip due to malaria. i'm not trying to tell you whether you should take malaria drugs or not, it's a personal choice but the chance of contracting malaria is very small. as far as risks go no doubt you are more likely to have an accident driving on the freeway than to get sick of malaria. in general, malaria is more of a serious risk in the rural sections of CA. the risk in roatan would be negligible. having said that i could not guarantee that you won't get sick. when i traveled around costa rica i decided not to take medication for malaria as the side affects seem like they are more of a problem than the disease. obviously i and many other people had no problems with disease. please reconsider canceling your trip, but do keep in mind that there is always a risk but as long as you take the normal precautions and you will likely be ok. take care jen
