Thanks David...
What I would like to know about the cell phone is do they use a SIM (a small flat chip loaded in the phone)?
For the money thing... It looks like we are going to move there in the next few months so the bank and money thing will be taken care of and I will NOT be carrying around sums of CASH in my pocket but I will also not be putting it in a Honduran bank. ;)
I have heard that CelTel has lost the contract with Hondutel and a new company will be doing the cell phone work in a few months time. The new company is coming from another south / central American country and has a good track record.
We are so looking forward to getting there and getting the ball rolling on our new life.

Keith...I am afraid I would have to disagree with one point Sandy makes here...bringing down lots of cash is, in my personal experience and opinion, NOT to be recommended! I have seen too many people who have lost too much money to recommend cash. I would suggest you bring American Express traveler's checks. Used as directed you cannot lose. I have had several students over the years lose their wallets (done it myself) and get their money back without any problems because they had traveler's checks in their wallets instead of U.S. cash. Many people on the island actually prefer traveler's checks over cash...or so several have told me. They have them made out tho them, record them and their numbers, and put them away waiting for inflation to increase their value. I agree with many of the things Sandy says, but speaking from personal experiences, bringing down loads of cash is not responsible behavior. Likewise if you bring a cell phone...Motorola or not...it will NOT work unless it is programmed to do so. There are phones on the market that will, but they require special programs allow them to do so. CelTel will program your cell phone for you for a modest fee that will allow you to use their phone cards and download minutes into your cell phone for use of the islands or for calling the states as well from the island. Be aware that to call the States you should NEVER use MCI. They have what they call "random rates" that allows them to leageally charge you up to five or six times the rate you would pay to AT&T or others who have a fixed rate. None of them are cheap, and when you call the States not only to you pay with your costly cell phone minutes, but the calls can only be made collect so the person you are calling must pay as well...expensive to be sure!
All the best, dke
