    Hi,

    > What is the best dive site near the island?

Every dive site has its opportunities to see something special. I've seen
plenty just snorkeling on West Bay Beach. There are literally hundreds of
    dive sites on Roatan.

    > Where is the most reasonable place to rent a car?

Try either Sandy Bay Rentacar or Caribbean Rentacar, both on
www.roatanet.com . Tell them you want their oldest car. Don't be picky if you want something very inexpensive.

    Do you have to

    Nope. No such thing.

    Is there anything

Lots! Snorkel down where you are staying off the last dock to the West.
Stay out of the boat lanes though. Lots of other things but I'll let others chime in.

    4. Where is the cheapest beer
    > sold? (priorities you know)

In bars? Local bars I assume, but don't frequent much. In most bars, local
beer costs between $.90 and $1.50 a bottle. Or you can go to the deposito,
varios locations, and get cases of bottle beer. A deposit is required, but
it's about $10 for a case. The local (er, really Nicaraguan company) rum is
    very inexpensive and quite good.

    Best regards,
    Steve
