I think they are. Again, on this end of the island there's an isolated cove
where people ride them. West End I have no clue, but obviously from the
E-mail that came thru the list, folks ARE paying attention.

Still there's ALWAYS the vacationer with a few drinks who "thinks" (or maybe
doesn't think)it'd be more fun to ride them in the big waves--the same waves
that cover the big reef and smaller divers and fish. The resorts chase them
down and fuss--so I haven't seen this happen with jet skis besides that
once--and not at all in the past two years. Again, that's on the south
shore with Fantasy Island and Co Co View. What happens in West End, I'd
have no way of watching from here.

There aren't but a couple of them on the entire island--most need constant
repairs and are expensive to rent. So you rarely see them anyway.

Your plot of land is too far from ANY resort with jet skis for this to EVER
happen. At least not anytime soon.

But, as I mentioned before, there's all sorts of water newbies who do things
without thinking. Some just as bad as jet skis. The more folks who move
here for longer than a week, the easier this will be to monitor and put a
    stop to this.

Try to remember that this island is just a few years from being a remote
spot with nothing but fishermen. Few police--no coast guard per se. So it's
up to us who live here to make folks aware of the dangers. Which is why I
wrote this on a tourist-baes list in the first place.

We're getting it together as fast as fast can be!

    And folks ARE listening--mostly.

    You are funny, crackadacka.
It will take just one person killed by a jetskiier to tank Roatan's diving
industry. People have choices about where to go diving, and Roatan cannot
afford to get the reputation of being too dangerous a place to take a dive
    vacation.

Maybe the dive shops could be educated about this.
