My fav spot is West Bay beach. I absolutely LOVED the snorkling there and all the life in the reef. There are a few places to stay there too which should be decent. :) There are MANY spots though that each different person will prefer so you'll get a lot of different answers. You might want to ask "what part of the island should I not stay in? as well to make a fully informed decision. :) There likely aren't going to be too many places though that are recommended as places NOT to stay but it's still usefull info when booking your room there.
