Sol Air Announces New Non-stop flights
to Roatan from Miami and Dallas/Ft. Worth

Divers, anglers, or anyone looking for a few non-stress days on an island
can find it on the Bay Island of Roatan, 40 miles off the coast of Honduras,
and Sol Air has just made it easier to get there from Miami with both
non-stop and connecting flights. Starting November 22, the airline will also
reinstate their Saturday, non-stop flights between Dallas/Ft. Worth and
    Roatan.

The first Miami—Roatan flight was November 30th, 2002, getting a jump on
prime season in the western Caribbean, when divers pack their gear to
explore the Great Maya Reefs and anglers go in search of the “big one.”
Flights now leave Miami every Friday at 6:30 pm for the 2-hour, 10 min.
flight and return on Saturdays, arriving at Miami International Airport at
    12:10 pm.
Passengers from/to Miami can connect through San Pedro Sula or Tegucigalpa,
Honduras virtually every day of the week with local carriers Sosa and
Atlantic for the short flight on to Roatan.

    Dallas/Ft. Worth Roatan Flights

Start up date for Sol Air’s resumption of non-stop flights from the
Dallas/Ft. Worth airport to Roatan is November 22, with departures and
returns on Saturdays. Flights depart Texas at 2:00pm for the 3-hour, 25 min.
flight with returning flights arriving in Texas Saturdays at 12:45pm. When
the U.S. is on daylight saving time, Honduras is two hours behind Miami, but
only one hour in winter. Dallas and Honduras are on the same time schedule
except during summer months when Dallas is one hour ahead.

    Fares
Sol Air has a special introductory roundtrip fare from Miami to Roatan of
$199, with travel to be completed by Dec. 10. After that date, lowest
economy fare from Miami is $389 and from Dallas $569, good for departure and
return within 120 days. Maya Class business fare to Roatan from Miami is
$589 and from Dallas, $739 and taxes on all fares are $46.40.

Aircraft flown by Sol Air include a Boeing 737-300, with eight in Maya Class
and 125 economy and a Boeing 727-200 with 10 Maya Class and 131 economy.
Service includes hot meals and an open bar. One-year tickets are refundable
    minus a $25 fee.

Sol Air has been in the air for one year. “Our goal,” says Richard E.
Saumell,” vice president for North America and based in Miami, “is to become
known not just as a Honduran carrier, but as the carrier for all Central
America. We are adding destinations slowly and in addition to Roatan,
Tegucigalpa, and San Pedro Sula in Honduras, we now fly to Managua,
Nicaragua and San Salvador, El Salvador.” Two former Honduran Ministers of
Tourism are members of the board of directors: Ricardo Martinez, Sol Air
    president and Norman Garcia.

Sol Air, along with Mario Aguirre, head of the Honduran Tourist Office in
Miami, will be promoting diving in Roatan at the DEMA dive show in Miami
    October 8—11.

    Stories to Tell

As on most Caribbean islands, Roatan has its stories to tell of plundered
gold. Roatan’s pirate stronghold was called Port Royal, and buried
still—somewhere on the island—are said to be the spoils from Henry Morgan’s
1671 raid on Panama. However, the biggest treasure discovered to date is the
island itself, with its 1,300-foot-high ridge covered with pine and oak
forest; secluded white beaches and reefs with canyons, ridges and walls
alive with corals and marine species. Some reefs are so close that swimmers
    can reach them from shore.

    Roatan Beach and Scuba
    Air-Inclusive Packages

Jaki and Terry Evans of Roatan Charter, based in Florida, have been selling
Roatan as a great beach and scuba destination since 1981 and are packaging
Roatan in conjunction with Sol Air’s new non-stop flights from Miami and
Dallas. From Miami, packages include 8 nights accommodations and from
    Dallas, 7 nights.

Resorts include Anthony’s Key Resort, Half Moon Bay Cabins, Fantasy and Coco
View. A year-round air-inclusive beach package, per person double from Miami
(excluding holidays), starts at $589 and dive packages at $1035. Departures
from Dallas start at $559 for the beach trip and $935
for divers. Contact Roatan Charter, 800-282-8932, extension 308, e-mail:
