There it would just add a little more nutrients in the water. Actually, while they do have some treatment capabilities, the industry is continually being fined for effluent dumping violations. There is tremendous debate regarding the ecological ill- effects of this industry. They are apparently not just big boats that hand out $$$ and take care of all of their own bad side-effects.
Frankly, I think that the down-side to the Cruise Ships could be an easily compiled and lengthy list. The question I have is...has anyone done the math on the BENEFITS that they can bring to a place like Roatan. What do they offer a sleepy paradise like Roatan? Why is their arrival such a popular development?
