Hello, I have to agree with Rita and Ron. Again, where else in the world can you have a lush tropical experience, beautiful beaches, Caribbean seafront accommodations, great food at very reasonable prices? A full plate of lobster for between $12-$16, which would be double or triple that elswhere. A 1/2 hour busride to Coxen Hole for 60 cents. A lot of smiles for free. One also should remember that Roatan is an island and that many of the supplies, including food items, and repair, maintenance and building supplies, have to be imported from the mainland at additional cost, among others imported from the States, for our convenience, at even greater cost. For a simple example, coffemakers in the cabanas or rooms, that guests have a reasonable demand for, may cost around $20.00 in the States, but cost around $40.00 and up on the island. And guests, that innocently break a coffepot, do not realize that a replacement cannot be found on the island and are either ordered at very high cost, or packed down in suitcases by friends and family. The high cost of electricity is another factor in pricing. Providing guests and clients with air conditioning- which is usually run full speed, 24 hours a day- is a major expense to the hotel operators and other businesses on the island. I have never felt unsafe there. Even travelling in the States one must use sensible caution. The people are warm and friendly and so accommodating. Roatan is so beautiful. And I believe that they really try to keep the costs reasonable for people. I am always pleasantly surprised and pleased to see, that the business owners I work with and those business owners I am acquainted with, are just sincerely so full of joy to have happy guests and people like Ron and Rita that cannot wait to come back! I am one that certainly cannot stay away for long............Leslie for Foster's Roatan

I have to disagree with the post about Roatan being expensive...where in the world can you get a Seafood Platter for $12..Cocoanut Shrimp Platter for $9.99 Redsnapper, Grouper for $8...I think food prices are very cheap! You will love Roatan..last time we were there in April we only got several bug bites but we did use Deet Spray & it helped a lot..just remember to reply it often! WE LOVE ROATAN & can't wait until we can return...Gorgeous Island & friendly people! Best wishes to all, Rita & Ron In Pa. :o) waverider67401 wrote:
