The people at this web site

are big on low budget travel. They maybe a huge help to you finding a
way and feeling comfortable about land travel.

I took the bus from San Padro Sula to La Ceiba last year and was
extremely impressed. Heck, it was nicer than the flight from Houston.
The cost was all of $7 including snacks, beverages and a movie. I
would not hesitate to do it again.

As far as Roatan itself, I feel amazingly safe there. I have traveled
down and back the past two Januarys alone. You may be surprised how
many people ya met if ya travel alone. I have gone through San Pedro
Sula both times...I don't even speak much Spanish but seem to do just
    fine.

I truly believe the whole safety factor is a mind set/common sense
thing just as it would be in LA, New York, Chicago or any other large
    city.

Did I mention I am a female in her 30s.
