I think in the initial post, the elderly lady was looking for steady monthly income for her investment of about $250,000.00 USD. Perhaps the operative words are steady, income, in the short term, and of course she's probably banking on low risk. The question wasn't about how great Roatan's returns will be on appreciating property values, ala Hawaii, etc. Her informational request was based on a need for predictable income, in the very near future, not when Roatan reaches its potential.....if done correctly. Hi Guys
Well I beg to disagree, just that I have been doing this since 1962, opened in up Hawaii in 1965 and Incline Village, Nevada in 1968 my associate have sold over 14,000 lots in the last 40 plus years. In addition to all that I do have several degrees including one in real estate and a California Brokers license since 1962.
So here is my two cents, don't buy Roatan now and you can call and visit with those folks who told me that Hawaii was to far etc and would never catch on and said the same thing about all the other places we developed property like Palm Springs.
This is as good as it gets.

I also agree that Roatan would not be my first choice. Roatan is gorgeous, living here is wonderful but it is still on the baby stage, in a couple of years I would say that it will be a good investment. Cyndie

Don't know that Roatan would be my first choice. I've had investment properties and the "net" income has not been predictable nor what I expected. Suggest another type of vehicle.
As for the beauty of Roatan, it's nice but infrastructure is still lacking. It will be a good place, someday.
