As my friends wrote in an earlier post, my house got robbed this
past weekend and my nanny and 1 year old son were held up. First by
knife point and then by gun ~ our gun that they found. Fortunately
for us, neither my nanny nor my son were hurt, just incredibly
    shaken.

My nanny answered our front door to two men who asked for my husband
by name and spoke of work we are in the process of looking to get
done. This had not been an unusual circumstance of late. However,
once she said my husband was not in, they barged in the door and the
rest is history. Let's just say the way we run our house has taken
    dramatic changes.

For the record, we have two dogs, and anyone who knows us knows they
can out-bark the rest. They were locked out on a separate porch.
To think they were sensitive before!? Now any friend who comes to
our house will be greeted by full on barks and snarls at the front
door and a fluffy floor upon entering (no amount of sweeping can
control this), the main entry way is now their domain.

Nightmares encountered in recent nights about what could have
happened have been rampant. I cherish my nanny for her incredible
bravery, who was holding my son all through the encounter, even when
a fully loaded pistol was pressed to her head. She is the most
amazing woman and the fact that continues to work with us, only
makes me love her more. As for my son, no amount of kisses, hugs
and laughter can express how much we love him. This is a story to
be shared on his 21st birthday. If he suddenly has a fear/phobia of
all things shiny in future years, I would understand why, but I
think he is too young to take that all in.

The police have been great so far. My husband has spent many hours
driving them up and down the island searching for these men and our
belongings. This has not been done to expedite our case, but
because it is necessary. When you next experience a road block,
hand them 100 lemps, these men and women need it and WE NEED THEM!!!!

If anyone is offered for sale a couple of laptops, dvd, digital
camera, watches, speakers, to name but a few items, please email me
offline. Should these men be found and arrested and should our
stuff be retrieved I will post another message.

We love this island, and have made it our home. We have lived here
for nearly 2 years without incidence. Thank you to our friends who
have sent messages of support. My heart goes out to our fellow ex-
pats on the East End who have really experienced harrowing times
most recently and others over the past several years.

Best to all, Roatan is a wonderful place. Crime happens everywhere
in the World, unfortunately it happened to us here.
