I would like to make a few comments regarding these two conflicting statements;
"Lets face it folks crime is everywhere." Unfortunately, this statement is VERY true. Even the richest countries in the world have prisons that are full of smart, highly-educated, and materially-rich, self-centered criminals.
"Jobs and improve pay will help hold down crime."
Unfortunately, this statement is definitely NOT true. Being poor does not make one a criminal. Nor does having a well-paying job make one immune from the sinful temptation to steal, kill, and otherwise take from others what does not belong to you. Even the richest countries in the world are full of poor people who remain honest, and who choose not to steal from others.
If you really want to know the "root cause" that explains why violent crime is increasing on Roatan island (and everywhere else, for that matter)...ask yourself this age-old question; "Am I a good person?"...and then click here to find the true answer;

In His service, Tim
John 3:16-18 (NIV) 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. -----Original Message----- From: herbo69.....com [mailto:herbo69.....com] Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2005 5:38 PM To: roatan.....com Subject: Re: [roatan] posting from Hondo 1 list Roatan crime
Lets face it folks crime is everywhere. This looks to me like a scare tactic to keep people from moving and investing on Roatan. The only place I now of that doesn't have crime is the moon. Please folks look at the news around the world and tell me one safe place. Jobs and improve pay will help hold down crime. Take Care Herb Morici
