What happened in Port Royal and these other areas is very, very sad. None of us who moved to Roatan thought we would have to live in fear. Theft and violent crime are getting worse by the day. There were also three other break-ins last week in the Oakridge and Jonesville Point area. One of our neighbors, a single gal from Oregon, had nearly everything she owned stolen last Friday around noon time. She had gone into French Harbour for some errands. I don't know what the solution is, but I do know there is more crime now than ever before. We (foreigners who own property here) had several meetings after the murder of an American in Pollytilly a few years ago. It was attended by the new police chief and other officials, but nothing came of it. Unfortunately, I think it is going to be up to all of us Gringos to protect our property with alarm systems, electric fences and perhaps, weapons. Maybe its time to band together and discuss solutions. Marcia Quinn Strehlow
