    Ron,

    I wonder about the same thing sometimes, I live in
    Washington DC, where at the same time as a couple of
    these incidents, there were a few murders, "home
    invasions," and numerous fatal car accidents, etc.
    Not to belittle either place's incidents as being more
    or less serious. When I hear of a person being robbed
    or murdered in Roatan, I am scared and appalled. When
    I hear of a person being robbed or murdered here I
    barely take notice. Why is that? Even when the
    incidents here in DC are way more often (reportedly)
    and closer geographically. I think that the smallness
    of the community there plays a role in people getting
    more easily "freaked out." Chances are you at least
    know a person who knows the person that was robbed.
    It makes it a lot more scary. I'd like to know which
    area is statistically safer...DC or Roatan. Just a
    thought.
