You may be an islander however the locals I have meet find that some people are naive and very easy targets. The stories of crazy property deals with goof ball leases in Roatan are everywhere. With a three tier system in Roatan trying to find the true owner at times is like trying to buy property in China Town. It is just as "criminal" for someone to try to cheat you out of money on a land deal as it is for someone to steal.
