Ver unconstructive comments.It is precisely this type of attitude which springs up from time to time from foreigners which causes to foment not help the situation.We must remember we are the interlopers here.By n o means must we sit back and take anything , we must defend ourselves when the need arises but taking lives merely to achieve respect or standing in a community , believe me despite what your friend in CR maintains does not work around here.He'll get his, " algun dia " ! Their are ways to protect yourself in Roatan. The first thing is to quit accepting getting robbed. I had a friend who had a bar and restaurant in Costa Rica. He was told not to buy this place because of the people stealing and crime. He had a few people steal from him and he used the above referenced solution. Once it got around that he was a crazy American with a gun who would not put up with thieves, guess what, it stopped. He is their now, has the same business, and is respected in the community. A meeting after a few houses get broken into or someone is beat on the head for a few buck is to little to late. Their is strength in numbers.
