I will be the first to say the needs discussed by the group(s) first need to
have a direction ,or a solid plan that needs to be analyzed by the group for
its cost of implementation. As stated the group would have input from
islanders and property owners and businesses. A group mix would be chosen
for initial fund raising and solicitation of support and dedicated
contributions from the Honduran department of tourism ,commerce, or other
government offices. Regular contributions from homeowners , business, resorts
perhaps the cruise ships, would best support the efforts of volunteers of
the group to fund a police /security force. Fund raising party type events
island wide and atmosphere promoted to visitors and tourist could also help
bring in income to islanders and pay for island security Contributors
could be given a preferential order. To start, the contributors would be
regularly patrol by the hired security. If one needed his assistance,it
would be a cell call away. This start could be on a regular or part time
schedule to begin. Now this plan maybe rebuttaled or belittled, but its an
outline for a start. Any other ideas, any volunteers for initial work. When
the next meeting? Lets start the ball rolling, lets have a start to protect
the island culture and its people. Hobbie----- Original Message -----

volunteers to help bring some or all of the recommendations forward? We
need a group made up of the different entities on the island to move things
along. Any suggestions for this committee?

witnessed by his excellent synopsis on what steps should be taken. I'm sure
there are others just as qualified out there, any takers?

years then it started getting more frequent and more serious. They formed a
Citizen's Crime Comittee" sponsored by the local chapter of the Chamber of
Commerce. It fixed the problem. They supported the police with
transportation and communication and actually rode with them on many
occasions. The added interest and support made the police do a much much
    better job.

vechicle with two way communications to respond to immediate needs. Not to
patrol, not to pull trraffic checks but only to respond immediately to
emergency situations. Private sector needs to arrange that.
