Subject: [roatan] Rec. for Removing Underbrush?

    Hello Group,

My husband and I are looking for assistance / recommendations on how to
proceed with some preliminary clearing of some underbrush on a parcel of
land we have here in Roatan:

Ideally we are looking to get some input on:
    1) Suggestions as to a relaible supervisor/contractor that we can work with
    to set this up.
    2) approx range of price per acre for preliminary removal of undergrowth
    3) reccomedations on ideal crew size and how long it may take - we realize
this will vary considerably based on the terrain and how finished we want
the work to be. We aren't looking for it to be groomed, just walkable!
    4) Any other input that may be helpful to someone who is new to all this!

The full size is 10 acres, and the property is located in Big Bight. We
would like to proceed on a contract basis, and just have the underbrush (no
trees) cut back so we can get a better sense of the land in anticipation of
breaking it out into smaller pieces. We also want to be environentally
responsible, so want to keep as much flora as possible while still being
able to navigate the terrain, and do NOT want to have crews put down
herbicide to remove the underbrush. (We are also planning to retain all
mangroves in the lower portion, and will be working on permits for a
boardwalk/dock out to the water.) As far as terrain, the lower 4 acres
towards the mangrove and the hill are relatively flat with some hills, and
the next 2-3 acres are hilly with some steepness, and the top portion is
relatively steep. Undergrowth is pretty high/thick.

We are on island and can be on-site, but as this is our first project, we
would also like to work with someone who can act as the
supervisor/contractor. Please reply on or offline at ashluker.....com,
or I can be reached most mornings at 403-8034.

Thanks in advance for your input, Andrea (Andi) and Brad
