I am new to the group, and have a simple question. My wife is from Roatan, and we live in Miami. About a year ago we bought a piece of land from one of her family members. Everything was done properly; however, we have one last piece of paperwork reaming. We have been informed that there is a municipal charge of 15%. This 15% is based on the value of your home. Does this sound correct? Also, the lawyer is charging 16,000 lempiras, which seems very expensive. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
