Subject: [roatan] Security Question, Not on crime stuff

Hello, This question goes out to fellow homeowners on the Island. I
have a question and was hoping for some ideas, suggestions, input.
PLEASE No need to respond without actually having work done, knowing
people, Knowing the Island etc.... I am not a full timer on the
Island and it can be sometimes difficult to get things done so I am
reaching out for some info. My home has very solid security bars but
they are also very high maintenance due to being right on the ocean,
they were either never galvanized or they have had too little
maintenance work and all of the galvanized is gone. I can continue
to have them scraped and painted regularly but would prefer a better
Idea. Are there newer better ways? Galvanized/gelcoated? Who is
good? is there anyone on the Island to do this that can be trusted
to somewhat do what is agreed to? Also I am considering wood "bars"
in for some windows, I know, as does everyone, that they are not
quite as strong but I figure any truck with a chain could easilly
remove most of the bars around the Island. I consider the wood in
that they will not rust. We have little in the home worth taking and
do have faith in the watchman but do want to have some type of
deterrent. You can reply here or feel free to E-mail me
at "Roatanbluehouse.....com". I will appreciate all input as well as
references. Please do not mail me with bad horror stories as I am
just looking for info and references and not any bashing.
    Eric
