Hi Group,
In response to the recent messages on whether a different forum should be set up for security discussions on Roatan.
This group is open for all topics as long as they are relevant to Roatan. I think it is important for people to see the complete picture of Roatan the good and bad, whether it is seen by all as good for business or not. We try to run the group this way, though at times it is not easy.
The great thing about the Roatan Discussion group is its number of members – 1450+ and diversity of members- investors, tourists and residents.
The recent discussion on crime is not the first one on this group and though this time the discussion went longer than usually, I believe it made people take note when possible tourists or investors started to say- "we are not coming anymore", "we are worried about this".
Maybe having the authorities and business people see this will make them want to do something about this issue, and this time I think it did. Lets see what happens the next few months on this issue in Roatan.
We would be happy to set up another group if people show an interest in this. Though I think personally the benefit of giving people the whole picture on issues is what these kind of groups are all about. Also in seeing the diversity of opinions and views that come out during discussions, as an investor you may look at things differently to a resident or tourist. Everyone's concerns or questions should be addressed and this is what the group is for.
