Mark...I cannot find fault with your reasoning. However, just to make my earlier statements a bit more clear, there are indeed some on the Roatan list who would disagree with both my earlier statements as well as yours below. A few months ago when I requested anyone on the Roatan list to let me know if they were experiencing any rise in anti-gringoism on the island, I was basically told, both of and off the list, by several list members, one of whom is a realtor, that the Roatan Yahoo groups list was NOT the place for such discussions and that I should take such questions elsewhere. This was soundly backed up on list by a "prominent" gringa posters to the Roatan list. My recent posting agreeing that the Roatan list did not seem to be the place for such non-tourist and real estate questions simply reflected my own experience at trying to elicit discussion a bit beyond the normal bounds for which the Roatan list was originally created or for the direction in which it seems to have evolved since its creation. Personally I enjoy all the Honduran lists, and feel crime is far too important an issue to all of us to ignore...for potential investors, for tourists, and for long-term investors such as myself who has been deeply involved in the Bay Islands for the past 44 years; in fact, rising crime on the island of Roatán is precisely the focus of my recently published novel THE JUDAS BIRD !
