Greetings-
I've been reading posts from the archives and have found lots of helpful hints about visiting Roatan. We are looking forward to visiting the island in June with our 2 year old daughter. Wondered if you all could help me with a few questions. -place to stay? I'm thinking West Bay seems like a good option for us, as we are not too concerned with night life and would like a nice place to stay on the beach with restaurants we can walk to. So far Bananarama looks good to us. I was also looking at the Paradise Beach Club. Anyone been to either place with a toddler? I was hoping that we might run into other families and that she may meet a playmate or two. We like quiet, but at the same time would like enough activity in close proximity to keep an active toddler interested.
Sand fleas----I'm a little concerned about them after reading all of the posts. Of course we will come prepared with sprays, etc., but I read somewhere that they spray at the West Bay beaches to help with the bugs. Is this true? I am dreaming of spending time each day at the waters edge playing in the sand & water with my daughter. Is this a reasonable expectation, or will the flies be too annoying? I don't really notice people in the water in any of the photos---can you swim close to shore at West Bay?
If anyone has been to Roatan with their toddler and can offer me any good suggestions of places to eat, things to do, I'd really appreciate it!
Oh, silly question- is there a place we can buy some sand toys, floaties, etc when we arrive? I'd hate to cart all that stuff from California, if we can just pick it up there.
