    Subject: [roatan] Picas and smoke

The best way to avoid ocean stings is to wear a dive skin to cover most of
your body--for face and the rest I'd try this Safe Sea stuff and see if it
works -- as it can't hurt.

We don't have any in the sea front of our place now--seas are moving again
and not as easy for them to hang out in. But this IS the season for them and
they may appear any place at any time and in any number for the next couple of
weeks. Seems they prefer the surface areas of calm water, but nothing is
    100%.

Smoke is still here today on Roatan, though it seems a bit lighter and the
    breeze has picked up.

Expect airport delays and you'll be prepared.--just in case.

    Since this is Roatanet???
Most "Roatan" arrivals do not come through Teguce.
But if you do plan a side trip to Teguce or connections through there, you
should check to see if that airport is open. It HAS been closed a lot lately.

Normal weekend direct flights to Roatan from the USA and Europe are doing
fine. So far. Connections through San Pedro are also running -- don't be
surprised if you are re-routed to San Pedro and out of Teguce.

Some departures from San Pedro have had delays of up to two hours, but
flights to Roatan from San Pedro are still running so far.

Just bring a book, water, a snack, and be prepared in the event of delays.

Also, just in case smoke gets worse~~~
It is NEVER a bad idea to bring a carry on bag when traveling--esp in CA.
Pack it with meds, toilet supplies, a bathing suit, a change of clothes, and
anything you can't live without for 24-48 hours--just in case.

Also never travel in CA without extra cash--credit cards are NOT as useful
here as you may be accustomed to elsewhere.

As always, we hope this helps.
