When my son was there he was robbed...The police found the guy and he got most of his stuff back..The thief was arrested one day and then let loose...When my son told who the guy was the thief put his finger to his head like a gun and acted like he was pulling the trigger...Letting my son believe that he would be after him when he got out...The police were right there...They have no fear but I do believe he was on drugs...Maybe that is where the bottom line should start...Maybe drugs need to be dealt with on that island...Search all when coming into the island...and ferry....Something is making these people crazy....just a thought.

The taxi driver was Kristofer's brother--law, Omar. He had a taxi fare and
the man held a knife to his throat and told him he wanted his money. Then he
told Omar to get out of the taxi. Omar felt that the man was going to steal
his cab and or kill him. Omar kept a machete under the front seat. When he
got out of the car he reached in got the machete and chopped the guy. He
then tied him up and took him to the police station and told them what had
happened. Later that day, the relatives of the wounded man signed out a warrant
of arrest against Omar. Then the cops arrested him. The taxi drivers were
uniting against the violence against them as this has been happening for some
time on the island. Omar had a weapon and defended himself. He was kept in
jail for 5 days before they released him. When he was in jail, two women
relatives of the injured man came and told him that when he was set free he
would be killed.. so now he his frightened for his life. The crime continues
there. The cabbies are quite scared now as they seem to be the prey.
