Just returned from a week at Anthony's Key, and I have to tell you that the sea lice are present in the water. I wore Safe Sea on my neck and got stung in spite of that. I was the only one on my boat who wore Safe Sea and I was the only one who got stung. Now I'm not saying Safe Sea attracts the jellies, but I have to wonder about that coincidence. :-)

My stings were on my neck, one on an earlobe and one near my mouth. They were nasty enough that I saw the resort doctor and got some medicated cream to treat them. The cream stopped the itching and is clearing them up. I was told by locals that scratching them will make them worse, and that seems to be the truth. My stings are still present but smaller and getting easier to deal with. Some of them have dried up and some are hanging on. I saw the thimbles in the water a few times but didn't know I was being stung until it was too late. On one night dive, I could feel them stinging me as I climbed the ladder at the end of the dive, but other times I didn't know I was being stung.

My dive suit must have protected the rest of my body because I didn't get stung anywhere else but the exposed areas.
