Has anyone invested in six month or one-year CD's from a Honduran bank? I know that they, of course, are in lempira. I also understood that when they mature and you want to convert the back into dollars that you can take some time. Any comments on the wisdom in doing so? If so, any recommendations on banks? Thanks.

Shooting in West End: Apparently there was the normal
weekend blockade of West End main drag,an Islander by
the name of Gary whom owns the hotel down by Miller
Avenue was trying to go home ,the police said he could
not pass through West End to get home with his car,so
he decided to go anyway, then the Tourist POLICE SHOT
his tire. He then went by cab to his house and got a
gun , came back and gunned down the tourist
police, killing him. Also ,the police in return killed him.Violence begets violence. The other question which I cannot get a legitimate answer to; is why are they shutting down the West End road during slow season? Why can some people pass and others cannot? Why can some taxis pass and others cannot? I live in West End and my business is there and this road block is problem for both business and residence and not a service by any means. Of course if this event had been handled properly, diplomatically, and without initial gunfire maybe this tragic event could have been avoided.I do not agree with gun fights and dueling on the streets, however the very people whom should be protecting us are often the cause of bloodshed. It is indicative of how much work there is ahead of the community and the law enforcement on the island. However we know by living there the laws are enforced randomly and the more money one has the less one is expected to obey the law. Unless the laws are served and obeyed equitably and by all there is no strength in the laws or law enforcement.
