Actually from what I read this statement seems to be quite appropriate. Other than Authorities, Family, And perhaps staff for training there is no need for the details to be posted on a forum such as this. marcus8.....netcom.com writes:
The resort has issued the following statement though it's of little help as far as the details are concerned:
CoCoView is sad to announce that we had 2 dive fatalities yesterday afternoon on Pirates Point. One repeat guest, who is unnamed at this time to respect the family's privacy, and Divemaster Tulio Gomez of Roatan, Honduras.
Little is known at this time. The first fatality happened minutes into the dive, with an unconscious diver at depth, and the 2nd fatality happened minutes after that on ascent. There were no direct witnesses to either fatality.
We are working with local officials in their investigation to get answers. The deceased have been transported to San Pedro Sula for autopsies. We have released their gear to authorities for their investigation and turned over statements taken from those present. It would be inappropriate for us to speculate or conjecture on the cause of death at this time. In the absence of witnesses, we must rely on the autopsy reports & gear inspections to tell us what happened.
Diving was suspended Tuesday until all systems could be evaluated. Diving is set to resume Wednesday afternoon for Beach diving. Boat diving will resume Thursday morning, with staff volunteers, and volunteer former staff members (both CCV & DDC) to allow the family & friends time.
We ask that folks respect the families by using discretion in their comments and conjecture until the authorities have completed their investigation. We will post information to the chat board as it become available from authorities.
And yes folks, the webcam was realigned yesterday afternoon. This was not done with malicious intent, but rather to spare the families those final images.
This has been a tragedy beyond imagine. Two very special men were lost yesterday. One a friend and one a family member. Our hearts go out to the families & friends of both men in their time of grief. We appreciate the sympathies extended from all of you, and hope all will understand that we cannot answer personal e-mails at this time.
We especially want to thank those guests here who not only participated in the rescue attempts, but several of whom opted for topside excursions today to allow us time to investigate, and our staff to grieve. Their consideration is very much appreciated.
