I haven't heard of anyone having their property repossessed simply for failing to paying one year's taxes on time. I had relied on someone to pay taxes on three different properties for 3 years in a row. When I went to pay the taxes myself in the fourth year, I discovered that this person had been pocketing the money and the taxes had gone unpaid all that time. Bottom line: I simply had to pay the 3 years of back taxes plus a penalty (10%, as I recall). There was never any indication that the property was, or was about to be, in any kind of imminent jeopardy.

Based on my experience, I wouldn't worry about it -- as long as you don't mind paying the 10%. -Tom

PS: If you'll be arriving after the 1st of the year, you'll be able to get next year's taxes out of the way early with a 10% discount for early payment.

My wife and I were planning a trip in September. Now the plan is to come
down later in the year or first part of next year. One of the reasons
was to pay our property taxes for our land at Camp Bay. They are due in
September. I have been told it's really no problem to be late in paying
them. Just a few $$ late penalty. I would hate to have my property
repossessed over a $100.00 tax bill though. Anyone care to comment on
    this?

Assuming the advice is to get them paid on time is there a 'service'
that does this for you? The last couple times we paid the taxes all I
showed was the previous years receipt. I would assume I could send down
a copy of our last receipt? Any advice would be helpful.

On another note there appears to be no low season for Roatan anymore.
At least not when it comes to airfare prices. We used to plan our trips
for September. We love the heat any most places are running their low
season pricing. Airfare this year for that time is running between
$850.00-$1000.00 (San Diego/Houston/Roatan). We are used to around
$700.00. I did searches through November at the cheapest I found was
$827.00. I know fuel prices are up but we just flew from San Diego to
Ft. Myers FL through Houston for $245.00. Same flying distance (i.e.
same fuel consumption). Looks like Continental was not the saving grace
everyone thought they were going to be. Hopefully more airlines will
    start making direct flights.

    Thanks
    Dave
