Good afternoon, we now have a total of 109 confirmed attendees for the Conference on Honduras 2005 (http://www.projecthonduras.com/conference).
I've been working on the program (http://www.projecthonduras.com/conference/program- conference2005.htm) for the event, and one of the new additions is a series of "breakout sessions" for subgroups within the Conference.
The first breakout session on the program is for representatives of Rotary Club chapters. The second sessions is for representatives of medical brigades. The purpose of these sessions is to provide an informal opportunity to bring individuals from these subgroups together to brainstorm ways to improve their services, facilitate their logistics, share information, and work jointly whenever it makes sense.
I've allocated 1 and a half hours for each breakout session and have reserved the conference room at the Marina Copan hotel for them.
I will need a small team (2-3 people) from each subgroup to organize each of these sessions, including a broad agenda. I will need a team leader from each subgroup. The breakout sessions will be designed by the participants themselves. I may make some suggestions, but I truly want these sessions to be about whatever the participants want. If the subgroups feel they would like more time, I'm sure we can accommodate.
Note that Copan Ruinas does have a new Rotary chapter. Two contacts within that chapter are Sandra Guerra (Sandra.....com) of Casa de Todo (http://www.casadetodo.com)and Flavia Cueva (flavia.....com) of Hacienda San Lucas (http://www.haciendasanlucas.com/).
Lastly, I know there are other subgroups within the Conference. If there is a need to create additional breakout sessions, I'll gladly entertain this. For example, I know that there will be a lot of Episcopalians at the Conference who may wish to set aside some private meeting time.
The conference room at the Marina Copan can comfortably seat about 50 people. One of the tasks of the subgroup team leaders will be to coordinate with those people who would like to attend their session so that the number of people who show up is manageable. Team leaders will also be responsible for coordinating with me to ensure that they have all the materials and equipment they need.
I would recommend that each of the subgroups develop a list of 10 topics they would like to discuss, and then narrow the list down to no more than 3. Remember, the idea is to have a chance to network in a smaller group and find ways to work together on specific projects.
Thanks, Marco
