This is great news! It would be great if someone could post a photo or 2 during reconstruction of Bob's Hole in the Wall.
Glad that we will be able to go there again when we come back down to the island!

Subject: [roatan] A final donations total
As promised, the final total is in.

    DRUM ROLL!

    $6,002.07USD!!!!

But that's not all that needs to be said! Not by a LO-OONG shot!

Surely you all know me better than that!

Before we close the books on this awesome Roatan chapter, we MUST send a HUGE
thank you to at least a few of the people who saved our backsides when we got
in WA-AAAY over our heads with this two week party plan.

Starting with Marcia who took over all the auction stuff when I was sick in
bed for a week with Strep and 102 fever and just kept at it all the way to the
end of the nitty gritty paperwork and such.

Then to Tony--the absolute BEST auctioneer on the planet! Ya gotta love Tony
and Penny, who closed their store on a Sat night and drove an hour one way
just to help out while Waylon and I ran around in circles tripping over our feet
with food and drinks. They just took over as needed and did it! And they did
    it GREAT!

On to Sandra Sampayo, Mike Brown, and Al & Jeanette Western who took over
gate collections and missed most of the fun collecting TONS of cash and keeping
    it safe.

Brion and Josh--for providing our EXCELLENT dancing tunes late into the night
on a windswept beach. Happy b'day Brion! We love you guys! Oh and to Marci
(Who knew she could belt 'em out like this, eh?) and others who just joined in
    the beach jam session--EXCELLENT!

Without these helping hands there would've been no benefit party!

    But I'm not done yet!

    Sorry but~~~
I gotta say thanks to Bruce and Nicki Raw--better friends a person couldn't
ask for. Thanks TONS to you both for the HUGE contributions of time, food,
cash, auction items, and never-ending moral support.

And also to Jim and Ellen who made some awesome refrigerator magnets to
commemorate the Hole in the Wall to sell at the entrance to make even MORE cash.
    Great idea guys!

To Butch and Sherry Wade who donated extra tables and chairs and
coolers--ditto Joy and Kirk Harden for the same! All our neighbors showed up and pitched
    in. We love you guys!

Also a special side note again to Sherry and to Jana Eylands (of Blue Harbor
-- our BEST island lettuce farm) for a HUGE and excellent last minute salad
and your much needed moral support and hands on help when things started getting
scary and weird at the last minute. THANKS!

Ditto to Stella of the nonstop smiles--for TONS of great stew and her nonstop
dancin' feet, her excellent "out of the blue" hugs when most needed and
ever-smilin' face. We love you Stella!!! It is NOT a party without you!

To Joe and Shirley--who handmade over 100 meatballs that vanished in a flash!
Ditto Stephanie, Bill and Ronnie, Martin, Alan and Martha and well GEESH
there's so many who drove so far and brought so much food and so many bottles!
Thank you just isn't good enough!

Then there's West End crowd too! Kevin, Bill and Cathy (and especially thanks
to you two for hanging in until the end), Chad and Ven, Jillian, Patrick,
Bill O., Rick--can I just say the entire gang from Black Pearl? All of you with
fun in your veins MADE this a party!

To Anna --who worked sick--cooked tons--donated HUGE to support to us in
every way possible. We all love you--always!

Ditto to Stephen and Katherine--for all the wine -- and that last minute cash
in the hand thing you do so well and encourage others to do as well. hugs!>

To so many people I lost count -- for not only bringing food and drinks--but
for bringing HUGE dishes and BIG bottles (or several of them) to keep the bar
and food tables stocked all night. Waylon and I were simply speechless at the
turnout and generosity of you all! (OK at least Waylon was speechless--but
    you KNOW me! )

And let me not forget all of those who donated auction stuff and who made
online donations! Paul and Juliet, Que Linda Crew, Merrit, DKE, Mitch, Dian and
all the others who gave those up front donations we've listed here so often.
Over 1/3 of the cash came from online donations and online auction stuff! Give
    yourselves a HUGE atta boy!

And to Dean of Roatanet--and Ron of Hondo1--and Howard at Roatan Forums--for
allowing me to monopolize chat lists for two weeks to get the word out. And to
Howard who stayed up until 2:30AM putting up the online auction site. THANKS
    HUGE!

Also we can NOT forget all of those WONDERFUL Jonesville boat folks and Hole
in the Wall area residents who have been sweating in the heat with hammers and
doing the REALLY hard work to rebuild our FAVORITE hang out -- and who STILL
made the trek by boat, car and whatever means needed to get here Sat. night
with food in hand to help out some more! Even Harry come out! Way to go Hole in
    the Wall Gang!

In short, we REALLY appreciate all of you who helped in a zillion ways -- so
many MANY more I KNOW I'm missing I hope will please forgive me.

But we just HAD to let you all know that YOU made this happen--and we love
    you all for doing it!

For any who may not know Roatan well, this is what our HOME is. Roatan is a
place where everyone pulls together--despite little differences--to show
support for neighbors when the need is there. The entire island of Roatan did this!
In spades! We're just grateful down to our toenails to have the chance to
    know you all.

We're VERY proud to be able to call Roatan our home and all of you our
friends. Again, thank you--most sincerely--and from the bottom of our hearts -- for
all of your help and support. (Waylon says I'm getting WA-AAY to gooey
here--so I'm gonna have to stop now)

But, most of all, thanks to our soft-spoken friend Bob for giving us all such
a wonderful place to hang out and feel comfy--always. And for coming to the
party and being so openly wonderful -- despite all shyness. We love you! We
    REALLY REALLY do!

The Hole in the Wall IS back open! Deck space is small today, but thanks to
all of you, the expansion project on the deck and bar to make it big enough
again to hold everyone is underway!

See you there soon for Roatan's BEST steak and lobster dinner!
