Please do a little research on the subject of Condo/Hotels before you blast the people building them. First thing is that there are very few Hospitality Brands that own their properties, most prefer to sign management agreements in a franchise style operation. Look into Hilton, 4 Seasons, etc.... Secondly in a traditional condo/hotel you buy a condo with the contingency that you must place it into the rental pool for X amount of years. This is a contingency just like when you buy a home you may be contingent to sign and adhere to a HOA covenance. It is always wise to make sure you have your title, or escritura publica, clean and free of embargos. So yes if you are thinking about any purchase or investment you should do your research. Certainly a Condo/Hotel is very different from a timeshare in that you do actually hold title to your property, which is valuable. But besides that, what's wrong with timeshares, you may not like the idea and I'll admit I'm not too fond of them personally, but thousands of people love their timeshare memberships. -----Original Message----- From: roatan.....com [mailto:roatan.....com]On Behalf Of johhnyfl.....com Sent: Friday, July 29, 2005 11:59 AM To: roatan.....com Subject: Re: [roatan] Wyndham project This Wyndham project is a local timeshare type development. Wyndham may have leased the name but be assured, wyndham is not in the business of building Condo communities in third world countries. BUT, Are they Condos? not when as an "OWNER" you can only stay there 6 weeks a year and have to pay a meal plan. This is just another timeshare attempt. Do your research, and, if you "BUY" something make sure you have the escritura publica to "YOUR" property that "YOU" bought, so when they tell you you cannot stay an extra week "YOU" can tell them that "YOU" own it.
