Home & Garden TV Tapes Roatan Segment For three months, Mike Brown, Office Manager, and his Roatan Realty staff worked quietly behind the scenes to bring Home & Garden Television (HGTV) to Roatan. In late July, cameras rolled as the network taped a 30-minute segment for their reality series House Hunters.
This is the first time the series moved beyond U.S. borders to feature a home buyer in an international location. Roatan Realty clients Gary Howorka and Rebecca Anderson, a happy, vivacious couple, were perfect House Hunter “stars.” Roatan Realty agent Jeff Thekan showed the Minneapolis clients three upscale homes located in Port Royal, Politilly Bight and Gibson Bight. They actually purchased several parcels of land and plan to move in October.
So, what attracted Gary to Roatan? “A friend told me about The Bay Islands and I liked the idea that it was somewhat undeveloped,” Gary explains. “I love the reef and water sports in the area, the people are nice and primarily speak English, and Roatan is just a direct two hour flight from the US. It is also a fantastic investment, because if you look at the statistics, Roatan’s real estate market is set for enormous growth.”
The show, which will be broadcast to more than 80 million U.S. viewers, 1,000 outlets on U.S. bases, and more than 175 countries, will cast Roatan into the limelight and is expected to have a positive impact on both tourism and property sales. We’ll publish the air date as soon as the segment is scheduled.
Exclusive Agents for Keyhole Bay
Keyhole Bay, an upscale gated oceanfront residential community, located on Roatan's southwest coast selected Roatan Realty as its exclusive broker. Keyhole Bay includes single-family estate home sites and luxury condominiums in breathtaking hillside and seaside settings.
There are still excellent investment opportunities at Keyhole with five of the 24 ¼-acre home sites still available. Prices range from $70,000 to $149,000. Construction of 35 condominiums is scheduled to begin this month and there is still time to receive the $20,000 pre-construction discount.
Keyhole will be a unique niche community with architecture of concrete Spanish style homes and condos. All properties are strategically located on oceanfront and hillside settings that take advantage of the breathtaking island views. The clubhouse area will overlook the beautiful Beach at the Keyhole and include a restaurant, bar, pool and meeting facilities.
A typical Keyhole owner is 40 to 50 years old and from the United States, Central America or Mexico. If you are looking for security, recreation, lifestyle, investment and financial opportunities look no further than Keyhole.

Q. It looks like prices are on the rise here. How do I know if my property is priced to sell and not under or over-priced?
A. One of the biggest mistakes in selling a home or property is pricing it improperly. Clearly everyone wants to get the highest dollar they can - but that means pricing it at market value and not just what you think you need to get from it.
Your property will sell much faster if it is priced right. Based on our statistics, property values on Roatan increased 20% this past year and are projected to increase 20-30% over the next year. We keep statistics on what every home and piece of property in all areas of The Bay Islands has sold for. Based on this information, we can do a FREE market analysis for you. Then you can be assured that your property is not under or overpriced. It will be priced to sell. Then, we’ll do our very best to find you a buyer!
