Don't think airfares are going down, no matter how much lobbying people do. The airlines seem to be doing well enough not to cut prices, national airline or not. Capitalism at its finest, right? They'll also use the "cost of fuel" excuse to raise them right out the roof. Wonder how the other airlines can fly to farther, more developed destinations for less?
I think competition or reduced takers will lower them Let's face it, the airline business is ailing really badly and has been for a while. Mismanagement, 9/11, unions, etc. all helped attribute to it.
Remember when SolAir tried to compete? TACA lowered some of their fares down to the mid $200's. That was a deal. SolAir didn't have deep enough pockets to compete. Sad, but true.
If people stop flying to Roatan and go to Belize, Grand Cayman, Barbados, etc. maybe they'll drop the prices. I just got notice of a deal to Belize for $259.00 round trip. I'll probably buy into that one. Roatan is probably out for me this year.
If you can get TACA, Continental, American, etc. to drop their prices, more power to you. I'd like to see it, but I'm not going to wait around on that one.
Just my 2 cents, that's all.
