    -Hilda¹s Visit
Last week marked a visit from Hurricane Wilma or she at least came close to
visiting about 120 miles from the eye. At Cat5 as she passed by, the winds
    were substantial and constant.

Although we had no power, phone or internet things were back to ³normal² in
a couple of days. Trees and branches were down all over the island making
driving a bit like a game of Pac Man. Beach erosion so far has been
substantial, though my experience is what Mother Nature takes she will
return. The north and west sides taking the brunt of the effects, while
travel to the south side like going to a different world with little
crashing waves in comparison and what one would consider ³breezes² versus
sideways salt spray that were on the opposite shore lines. Waves here were
as large or larger than I have ever seen here, but as many know the reef
surrounding the island will help protect most from harm in regard to
possible surge. Ran into shop dive shop people who say the waves were
higher than they were when the island have Mitch visit in ¹98.

There are plenty of docks/piers that went down but they can be rebuilt. I
have heard that Punta Gorda got hit hard but have no details on it. Have
heard of no loss of life or injury.

With all the storms this record breaking season, this past weekend we all
held our breath again as the weather channel and internet links told of
Hurricane Beta slowly moving up the coast of Nicaragua. Although news hass
not come to us yet regarding the water damage it may have done in that
country, about 8,000 residents of low lying areas were evacuated, seems that
it has now been downgraded into a depression and moved off to the pacific.

I guess the overall bottom line of this is that we dodged a couple of
bullets, which the island usually does, with an average of only every 24
years for a hit and the precious reef protecting all.

    -Market Watch
Now being one of the slowest times of the year for the island, sales are
still fairly strong. Web page activity is down though is each year at this
time so no surprises there. Year to date it is up. A bit too early for
people to be thinking about tropical vacations out of the snow and with
three out of four of our top producing areas for inquiries for the island
being Florida, Texas, New Orleans and California, no surprise with them
being preoccupied with hurricanes, fires and mudslides. I noticed no real
upward bounce with any of the major developments announcing price increases,
possibly new projects keeping some from doing such competitively, atleast
    temporarily.

    New Listings of note-
³Infinity Bay² is a new condo project announced in West Bay. The 100 plus
unit complex will break ground soon with building stakes out for the first
building and a sales office in place. Pre-construction prices starting at
$239K they will offer one, two and three bedroom units. This complex so new
is not yet on the MLS service but will be soon. If you wish information on
this project feel free to write me.. I would presume this to be the last
new construction opportunity on West Bay for a while at least.

The fourth edition ever of the island¹s MLS magazine has just had it¹s
finishing touches put on it and will be off to the printer at the end of
this week and distribution starting in about 2-3 weeks. If you are visiting
the island and would like a copy they are displayed in many island locations
and give a great overview of what the Islands, (Roatan & Utila), and some of
the north coast, (LaCeiba area), have to offer for vacation, retirement and
    investment
    possibilities.

-New Shopping Opportunities- (Silver Bay, Tommy Bahamas,)
As the island grows so do the options for various items and shopping. Both
of the small malls near the cruise ship dock are going through expansion for
the upcoming season adding a second floor. Main Street Mall this year will
be offering a shop called ³Footloose² specializing in Tommy Bahamas line of
quality clothing and a new store called ³Silver Bay² with Mayan art items
and a very large selection of real silver and semi precious stone jewelry.
If you come to the island you may want to pick a day to check out this mini
mall. Although all the shops do not stay open everyday, (concentrating their
efforts on cruise day), many are open daily, including the Duty Free Shops
which have a great selection of products including your favorite bottles of
rum at very discounted prices. Worth the time to visit the non crowded end
of Coxen Hole. If you are coming from West Bay or West End, although not
100% paved at this point, (part gravel), you may wish to come in via Flowers
Bay road which connects to West Bay road at the ³T². Much shorter distance
than going the way most know via the main road though Sandy Bay.

    -Welcome Tom!
-I would like to take a moment to welcome Tom Campbell to the Roatan Real
Estate staff. Tom has been a mainstay in the industry for several years
working hard and generating a reputation for honesty and service, two things
our company considers the top of the list for it¹s staff. Because Tom has
lived here for several years his knowledge of the island is extensive. If
you know Tom you know that he is a great guy and a excellent real estate
    consultant.

-Photo moment-I have decided to offer a new section in the letter called
³Photo Moment². It will give a visual each month of a tropical setting ,
flower , animal or event. I have been here now several years and the photo
moments are always there it seems. This month is West Bay Beach normally and
    west Bay Beach during Wilma.

If there is any reason you can not open the attachment with this letter you
    can
    Go to http://www.roatan-realestate.com/newsletters.php

and see it there in the newsletter section where I will up load it, (will
not be there for a couple days). Those who receive this via the chat site
if you feel left out, email me requesting the photo and I will send you one
    ³off group².

I know this is a ³real estate² news letter but even if you are not buying
and just want a great vacation, Roatan is a very nice place to be.

That is it for this issue folks. Hope you enjoyed it and welcome it to you
email box again. If you decide that Roatan is not in your future or wish to
be removed from this mail list please just place ³remove² in the subject
    line and send it
    back to me via reply.

    Best Regards-
    Larry
