    Sandy,

I run my computer using a battery-backup BUT, in front
of that I use a Sola transformer which has a rheostat
(sp) on it. If my voltage is a little low, turning
the rheostat boosts it up to what I need. I just
happened to put a meter on the AC in and AC out. A
little overkill but I don't have any problem when i'm
on the island. I think the isolation from the line
and the adjustment do help a bunch.

As far as other appliances, isolation on those also
seems to help. Can't eliminate all lthe problems but
    most.

We also use a battery backpack--but not a Sola transformer.

Could you e-mail me (off the list) of someplace where I could purchase or get
    more information on this?

    MUCH THANKS!
