Happy New Year and hello from Roatan!
Hope all is well with you and your families and things for 2006 in regard to
health, happiness and success happen in the best possible way for all of
you.
I realize that I skipped a month for the holidays, and though I heard from a
few of you looking for the letter, basically it just did not happen. I was
in the states visiting children and grandchildren and though found myself
still doing a lot of emails and steering the ship via technology, it was an
enjoyable trip.
While there found myself in a ³reverse culture shock² situation, with all
the stores, selections and abundance of choices, but after a bit got used to
things like expressways at 70 mph again. In a ³it¹s a small world²
situation even met a long term Roatan neighbor/friend /client at Epcot
Center just by chance. Truly a very small world.
Hope you all had an enjoyable Holiday season with your loved ones.
Cruise Ship News- Although I have not heard this from the ³horses mouth² so
to speak have it from very good source that Royal Caribbean Cruise lines has
signed a 30 year lease with the island for the cruise ship dock in Coxen
Hole. The downside of that for cruise ship orientated businesses will be
that there will be fewer cruise ships the end of this year and maybe some of
next. The upside is that Royal Caribbean should have the best of the ships
that seem stop in regard to passengers and the economic impact on the island
when they do visit. As they adjust their schedules there will be a
temporary slow down in traffic, but overall believe it will mean fewer in
numbers and better in quality, which for the island overall is a plus.
New Listings-
Although the holiday season was upon us, (and here it means that the entire
country just stops for a couple of weeks), our Roatan Real Estate staff did

Better Wet than White-
Often asked here about ³rainy season². Yes it occurs but is not what some
picture, that being monsoons for days at a time. Is there rainŠcertainly.
It can be a day or part of a day or a morning or an afternoon, but for some
reason, (not a meteorologist), seems to happen mostly at night. When is it?
Well it is like saying when is it cold for winter there. Can be as early as
October and as late as February. For the most part seems to be a couple of
months of cloudy/sunny/rainy days that provide much needed water for the
tropical plants and flowers, not to mention the need for the human needs.
Overall , to me a very pleasant time of year, where I do not wear sun
glasses daily and enjoy beautiful cool nights for sleeping. Always have
contended, (have lived in northern Michigan and the Chicago area), Better
wet than white.
