My wife (a Roatan native) and I decided to visit Trujillo just after the Easter weekend. We were disappointed. The Christopher Columbus Hotel and Islena used to be owned by the same person. Taca bought Islena, but the key players are still intact. The airstrip in Trujillo is just yards away from the Christopher Columbus Hotel. On our trip, one suitcase was lost. They tracked it down in San Pedro. The Hotel Manager, Ms. Bush (Evil!!!) authorized us to go into town to purchase a few essentials as our bag wouldn't arrive until the next day. We did so, but when we returned from shopping, Ms. Bush said our bag would arrive in the early evening and therefore, the airline would not reimburse us for the few things we purchased! What?!!!! There's more....I asked her about our Thursday departure / flight time. She smiled smugly and said there were no flights on Thursdays from Trujillo to Le Ceiba. Seeing our horror, she picked up the phone, hit a speed dial number and within seconds had magically re-routed the flight from Palacios to Trujillo. You know that line in the song Hotel California..."you can check-out anytime you like, but you can never leave". If you want more details, let me know....
