    I agree -Doctors in the States tend to go overboard -they do not know much
    about malaria. They wanted to throw me in hospital once when I knew I only
    had
    to have the series of Artenam B tablets. I've had it and bad 13-15 times
    from
    memory but in Africa. I now live in Honduras and there is no need for
    preventative medicines, Just take precautions - cover up especially around
    dusk
    and most mossies are low to the ground so socks etc. Put on anti mossie
    stuff.
    If you do get malaria I found that where you get is the best place to be
    treated. If you are only visiting for a short time take the prophylactics.
